This year I decided to enter a number of works into the very popular event known as the Thirroul Seaside and Arts Festival which is held from Friday March 31st -2nd April, 2017. This big event that happens every year helps celebrate many of the skills from the Thirroul community. In this years art prize I entered a number of works that have not been exhibited – self Portrait-generation X oil painting; the mind of paradise which was an intricate coloured drawing; and the life of one mind, a large black and white intricate work. I also entered a small handful of miniature works in the 10 x 10 x 10 cm miniature art show which included a self portrait painted in gouache at a scale of 5cm in diameter. I feel deeply honoured to have won a couple of awards. I won the first prize in drawing receiving the Seacliff Property Drawing Award for my large and intricate drawing, the life of one mind. I also won second prize in the miniature awards with my self portrait in gouache. I also feel very delighted that most of my miniatures sold out over the weekend. It was a wonderful opening night where I had the opportunity to meet many artists from the Illawarra. It was an inspiring evening!
