As a young child I obsessed over looking at ants on the ground and following where they traveled. Later in life I looked upon their journeys like a drawing on a blank paper. This is what first led me to drawing the anatomy of the ants. I didn’t draw this piece in a studio but rather as I traveled on trains, buses, airlines and sometimes on foot. I was always in a state of motion documenting what I observed around me as well as what I imagined. I also compared a line of ants to musical notations which inspired me to listen to sounds and music, especially from the London composer and performer Lola Perrin. The anatomy of the ants is the process of the human mind captured on the outside of the body rather than hidden within.
